Cerritos College offers an associate of arts degree in Journalism and two major certificate programs:

  • Journalism and
  • Public Relations

In addition, we offer three mini 17-unit certificate programs:
  • Broadcast Journalism,
  • Online Journalism and
  • Photojournalism.


JOURNALISM AA

Core Requirements for AA

  • Art 188 -- Design/Desktop Publishing (3 units) (formerly Art 48.1)

  • CIS 205 -- Programming HTML for Web (1.5 units) (formerly BCIS 75)

  • CIS 121 -- Introduction to Internet (1.5 units) (formerly BCIS 82)

Department Requirements

The journalism certificate requires all the Associate of Arts units and the Certificate requirements and electives below. (A minimum of eight additional units total)

PUBLIC RELATIONS CERTIFICATE

The certificate helps the student focus on the study of and preparation for entry level employment in the growing field of photojournalism. The certificate should be particularly helpful to those looking for employment at newspapers, magazines, corporate and government public relations departments and online journalism ventures.

The public relations certificate requires all the Associate of Arts units and the Certificate requirements and electives below. (A minimum of nine additional units total)
