101 -- Beginning Newswriting
Learn how to gather information from a variety of sources, synthesize the information and prepare it for dissemination to others. Great communication course for all disciplines! 103 -- Newspaper Article Writing
Get hands-on reporting and writing experience working for the award-winning Talon Marks student newspaper. May be taken four semesters for credit. Contact the Instructor for information (Every Spring and Fall semester) 2 units.

104 -- Summer Newspaper Article Writing
Get hands-on reporting and writing experience working for the award-winning Talon Marks student newspaper online version. (Selective Summers) 1 unit.

105 -- Newspaper Production
Learn and practice desktop publishing skills and photojournalism skills helping design the award-winning Talon Marks newspaper. Also help produce the college's new world wide web version of the newspaper. May be taken four semesters for credit. Contact the Instructor for information (Every Fall and Spring semester) 2 units.

106 -- Summer Newspaper Production
Learn and practice desktop publishing skills and photojournalism skills helping design the award-winning Talon Marks newspaper. (Selective Summers) 1 unit.

50L -- Editorial Board
Practice leadership skills as a major editor for student publications, including the Talon Marks student newspaper and Wings student magazine. May be taken more than once for credit. 123 -- Principles of Public Relations
Explore the basic theories and principles of communicating information and concepts by identifying audiences and using public relations tools. (Not offered every semester) 3 units.

126 -- Internet for Journalists
Introduce yourself to the Internet by focusing a study on how the media are using the world wide web to communicate to the technologically literate. Offered as an online class. Contact the Instructor for information (Nine week course not offered every semester) 2 units.

130 -- Photo Journalism
Study the photographer as journalist with an emphasis on using the camera as a reporting and communications tool. Contact the Instructor for information. (Not offered every semester) 3 units.


160L -- Magazine Production
Practice magazine production skills by preparing content and designs for the Wings student magazine. Co-requisite: Jour 53 or Jour 54. May be taken more than once for credit. Contact the Instructor for information. (Selective semesters) 1 unit.

170 -- Broadcast News
Practice writing skills collecting, writing and recording news for the campus radio station. Offered as a nine-week course. Start at beginning of the semester or mid-semester. May be taken more than once for credit. Contact the Instructor for information (Selective semesters) 1 unit.

Students work on special projects, such as internships, not covered under other journalism courses. Students are responsible for proposing projects or finding internships. Must complete a minimum of 54 hours a semester. (Every Fall and Spring semester, Summer first session) 1 unit.
