- Qualifications of Editor
Candidates for editor should have served a minimum of one semester as a Talon Marks staff member. Service on the Editorial Board is not required, but is desirable. Editors-in-chief who have not completed Beginning Newswriting with a C or better must enroll in Beginning Newswriting while editor and maintain good standing in the course while serving as editor. The successful candidate(s) must enroll in the Talon Marks Article Writing course (and Editorial Board if eligible) while serving as editor. Failure to do so is grounds for dismissal. To avoid a conflict of interest or an appearance of conflict of interest, the successful candidate(s) may not serve in student government in any capacity while serving as editor. This does not preclude an editor from serving on a short-term task force established for the college good.
